Pride Week Event Application

  Events included in the Pride Week Calendar (electronic and printed formats) are formally recognized and sanctioned as Official Pride Week Events. These events are those produced by the Edmonton Pride Week Society (EPWS), and/or the Society's friends and partner organizations. The 2008 edition of Pride Week takes place June 13 – 22.

For an event to be eligible for Official Pride Event Status, the following are considered:

a) That the event is unique to Pride Week (i.e. would not normally occur outside of Pride Week). The event is intended as a celebration for and of Pride Week and the event supports the Society’s Mission to showcases the unity and diversity of Edmonton’s gay, lesbian, bisexual, trans-identified and queer community.

b) That the event is sponsored/coordinated/organized by a registered non-profit or charitable organization, or all net proceeds from the event are directed to a registered non-profit or charitable organization. For profit businesses that wish to promote an event, which meets the criteria in point a) above, are required to also become an official sponsor of Pride Week.

c) That application to have an event approved as a Pride Week event is submitted to a member of the EPWS Board, or the Pride Week Coordinator, in writing by May 23, 2008.

d) Event organizers are responsible for ensuring all necessary insurance and licensing is in place for their events. EPWS will not be held liable for any issues associated with hosting an event.

e) That an organization will apply to have one event sanctioned for Pride Week. Promotion of multiple events by a single group or organization will typically not be considered.

f) Final approval of Official Pride Events is with the EPWS Board of Directors.
